Washington Redskins Tickets Available

Jeff asked:

Based in the Washington, DC area — the Redskins are a professional football team which was established back in 1932, 1933 they started playing as part of the Eastern division a venture which extended until 1949, from 1950 to 1952 they were part of the American conference, from 1953 to 1969 they played under the Eastern conference and most recently from 1970 until today they have been part of the national football conference East division.  Their home-field is a FedEx Stadium, the team owner is Dan Snyder, and the head coach is Jim Zorn.

Championships and important moments:

The Washington Redskins has been a historic team which has had a great deal of accomplishments, they have been conference champions in five different occasions (1972, 1982, 1983, 1987 and 1991), they have been six-time champions in both the NFL and the NFC East divisions in years that span from 1936 all the way to 1999.  To complement their success they have also been NFL champions twice (1937 in 1942) and three-time Super Bowl champions, and the 1982 season they defeated the Miami Dolphins by a score of 27 to 17, in the 1987 season the crushed the Denver Broncos 42 to 10 and during the 1991 season they came out victorious after defeating the Buffalo Bills by a score of 37 to 24.

Quarterbacks in the current roster:

– Derek Devine

– Colt Brennan

– Todd Collins

– Jason Campbell

Washington Redskins current news:

With a completely unique training style head coach of the Redskins Jim Zorn is expected to help the quarterbacks improve their abilities under constant attack and tough situations, the recent drills he has been seen throwing big bags at the quarterbacks in order to simulate a scenario where a player of the opposite team gets to tackle quarterback.  The team has high expectations of the new quarterback Jason Campbell but it is highly confident on the overall performance of the team and individual records achieved by their players such as Chris Cooley a player who has for the first time in NFL history with at least six touchdowns receptions in each of his first four seasons.

Unfortunately for Cooley who got married in May 23, his honeymoon was cut short (according to the player) and he is back training with the rest of the team in order to be in top shape for the 2008 season which is quickly approaching.

On Madden 07 franchise mode, are unlocked hall of fame players automatically drafted onto some teams?

Kodadog asked:

My brother started a franchise today with the Vikings to find he already had Y.A Tittle on his team and some other teams also had players.

Jim Thorpe and E. Sandberg were also in Free Agency.

Can anyone explain this and tell me by what system the players are put on teams?

I play as the Broncos but at the start of my franchise I did not get anyone special.

Nfl Football Betting

Todd Price asked:

NFL Football Betting is hugely popular amongst sports betting fans that are able to place their sport bets on both their favourite NFL team each week and on who will come out on top in Super Bowl betting.

The New England Patriots will again dominate super Bowl XLIII betting odds this season as they look to make amends for stumbling at the last hurdle in their quest for the perfect season when upset by the New York Giants in Super Bowl 42.
NFL Football Futures Betting gives you the opportunity to bet on your team early with many New York Giant fans winning big with their sports betting wagers on the Giants before the season kicked off.

The NFL is made up of two conferences, the American Football League and the National Football League and football betting is available on each and every game of the NFL season including the preseason games and all playoff games.

Some of the more popular NFL Futures bet props taken include betting on which NFL team will win their conference, which team will take out their division and which team will be crowned Super Bowl Champions.

Did you know that 3 is the most important number when it comes to NFL Football betting lines? This is because teams can run down the clock to get a last second field goal to break a deadlock.

The NFL Football betting is available on the following teams:

AFC North – Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers

AFC South – Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Oilers

AFC West – Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers

AFC East - Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets

NFC North - Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings

NFC South – Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFC West – Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, St Louis Rams

NFC East – Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins

Without being a homer, what 5 NFL teams do you think have the best legacy?

The Relic asked:

By legacy I mean a mixture of Super bowl wins or losses, a tradition of winning in the regular season and hall of fame players and coaches. I would have to say in no order the Steelers, the Cowboys, the 49ers, the Packers and the Patriots. I am a Broncos fan and once the Cutler era is over they will take one of those teams places.

Clinton Portis : 2002 Draft Day Picks

Bob Johnson asked:

Clinton Portis was born on September 1, 1981 in Laurel Mississippi. Portis is considered to be one of the best running backs in the game today, and this has held true ever since he was playing high school football. With size, athleticism, and speed it is easy to see why Portis racks up hundreds of yards year in and year out.

After a successful high school career Portis had the ability to play college football at almost any school in the entire country. He decided to take his game to the University of Miami where he starred from his very first day on campus. In fact, Portis was the first true freshman to start at running back for the Hurricanes since 1975.

Despite a solid college career, Portis was not one of the top ranked players in the 2002 NFL Draft. This led to him being selected with the 51st overall pick by the Denver Broncos. While he may not have been drafted as highly as some other running backs, Portis showed all the teams that passed him by that they made a mistake. After a successful rookie season he was named Offensive Rookie of the Year by the NFL. In both of his first two seasons he rushed for more than 1,500 yards.

Before the start of the 2004 season Portis was traded to the Washington Redskins. At that time the Redskins signed him to an 8 year contract worth more than $50 million. Although his game fell off a bit during his first season with the Redskins, he still managed to rush for 1,315 yards.

In 2005 Portis was fully back on track, and rushed for 1,516 yards. With this accomplishment he became one of only three players in NFL history to rush for more than 1,500 yards in three of his first four seasons in the league. While Portis was primed to have a big year in 2006, injuries slowed him down most of the way and eventually sidelined him in November.

Rb Bell Hopes to Find Success in Houston - Dallas Morning News

wangyang asked:

Mike Bell had a successful rookie season at tailback for the Denver Broncos. Then he was moved to fullback and things went downhill from there until he was eventually released last week.

Now Bell has been signed by the Texans and he’s hoping the return to tailback will help him stay on in Houston.

“I came in here with a good attitude just like I did coming in as a rookie in Denver,” he said. “Just grind from the bottom and I think I have a good chance because I know the offense just coming from Denver. So I think I have a good chance to come out there and compete.”

Making the final cut probably will be difficult for Bell. He was signed to fill in at practice for Chris Brown, who has missed the last few days with back problems. Houston also has Ahman Green, Darius Walker and rookie Steve Slaton.

However his familiarity with the offense of coach Gary Kubiak, a longtime former Denver offensive coordinator, should be helpful.

“It’s an easy call for us because he understands what we’re doing and he knows the system so he can walk out here and go,” Kubiak said. “He’s got some talent. There is an opportunity for him as we get Chris (Brown) healthy. We’ll just see how it goes.”

Bell had 677 yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie but rarely played last season and finished with just three yards rushing.

______

DEVELOPING DILES:@ Zac Diles didn’t start any games as a rookie last season. Kubiak believes that was a mistake.

“You go through the season and as a coach you feel like you have a pretty good young player and you get upset with yourself cause you don’t quite pull the trigger and get them in there,” Kubiak said.

He won’t make the same mistake this season. Diles, a seventh-round draft pick, has earned the starting spot at strong side linebacker. Pro Bowl middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans has become a mentor for the second-year player and Diles hopes to improve this season after soaking up tips and pointers from Ryans.

Kubiak said Diles has already made great strides since joining the team and thinks he’ll only get better as he works with the first team.

“I don’t see anything physically that he can’t do,” Kubiak said. “Toughness is his biggest attribute. What I see that is going to be the difference in him being a great player to me is the game — just understand the game. Understanding what offenses are trying to do to him. If he reaches that point I think he’ll be a great player.”

_____

KIDS THESE DAYS:@ Entering his 16th season, tackle Jeff Zgonina isn’t exactly in touch with what the younger players on the team are doing off the field.

“You got guys with their cell phones, their Sidekicks, YouTube, whatever the heck that stuff is,” he said. “Shoot, when I got in the league we used to have calling cards. We didn’t have cell phones. You met somebody out for dinner you hope they were there (or) you better go find a pay phone.”

Zgonina has been in the league so long that second-year tackle Amobi Okoye was 6 years old when he was a rookie in 1993. At 38, he’s the same age as Texans general manager Rick Smith and the two played together at Purdue.

Even Zgonina is surprised that his career has lasted as long as it has.

“My goal was 10. I was way out there,” he said. “I thought I could do it and I’ve had a little rough patch. I could almost get cut every year. I just got lucky enough and stuck.”

He appeared in each game with one start last season in his first year in Houston and had 17 tackles. He’s also played for Pittsburgh, Carolina, Atlanta, St. Louis, Indianapolis and Miami.

He said the older he gets the more he worries about making the team.

“You just never know. It’s a lot of luck,” he said. “I’m nervous, it’s my livelihood. I don’t want to give it up yet so you got to worry about it. It’s got to be in the back of your head. I’m going to give you my best every day in practice and preseason games and hopefully it’s good enough to help this team.”

_____

BLACK AND BLUE BRISIEL:@ Right guard Mike Brisiel has a black eye this week after breaking his nose from an elbow to the face on the first day of training camp.

The Texans couldn’t get him to take any time off to let his nose heal. So when the rest of the team practices without helmets, Brisiel stands out because he has to wear his, which has drawn sympathy from players and coaches.

But Brisiel has been standing out at practice for more than having to always wear his helmet.

“Mike Brisiel is something right now,” Kubiak said. “You talk about a guy who is having a heck of a camp. We’re starting to play him a little bit at center too just because we haven’t prepared for suiting seven guys on game day. He’s a player who got an opportunity, did a (heck) of a job when he got the opportunity. Can’t get him off the field.”

Fabulous Gift On This Christmas

Subhash asked:

DVDs make great gifts because they are easy to wrap and are loved by all

Christmas is all about the giving and gifters can say plenty with the right choice of special DVDs sets for family, friends and loved ones. We offer some guidance, suggestions for making an impact as you shop early and often.

Shoppers this holiday will be greeted by an unprecedented mix of box sets and special editions matching and surpassing the bar set last year by HBO’s $300 pink suede-covered 20-disc *** and the City complete-series collector’s gift set.

The number of new TV DVD box sets alone is 2 per cent ahead of last year’s record pace, when more than 550 were released, according to The DVD Release Report. It’s true that in many cases studios are doing this to repack previously released single DVDs and reap some profits before new high-definition video formats take off (they hope).

This year, more series get that treatment, including the Homicide: Life on the Street 35-disc megaset (A&E Home Video, $300) and Six Feet Under: The Complete Series gift set (HBO, 25 discs, $280). Movies, too, are being bundled into boxes that extol various themes (Fox’s $99 Rodgers and Hammerstein Collection and Warner’s $29 Classic Comedy Teams Collection) or chronicle the careers of actors (The Paul Newman Collection, Warner, $60) or filmmakers (Preston Sturges: The Filmmaker Collection, Universal, $60).

But customers do benefit from buying in bulk: A typical DVD costs $12 to $17 individually, but discs can cost $5 or less in a set. “It’s a win-win for both the studios and the consumer,” says DVD Release Report editor Ralph Tribbey.

Gift for Someone Special

Individual NFL Films highlight DVDs such as San Francisco 49ers:

The Complete History (Warner, $27; other teams include the Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos), because as the NFL playoffs

King Kong Deluxe Extended Edition (Universal, $35), because it adds 13 minutes to the already epic-length theatrical edition that features outrageous battles, stunts, creatures and, let’s face it, a scantily clad Naomi Watts approach, some fans will need glory days to lean on.

Beverly Hills, 90210: The Complete First Season (Paramount, $55), because this series is what made Fox the social network of the 1990s. Along with six more hours of special features.

An Inconvenient Truth (Paramount, $30), because it has been in the headlines ever since its theatrical bow over the summer.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 2 (Disney, $60), because it has last season’s 27 episodes and extended scenes from this Emmy-winning series, which captures surgeons and interns performing under stress in a Seattle hospital and under the covers.

Ali G Indahouse: The Movie (Universal, $15), because this is the first feature film starring red-hot comedi an Sacha Baron Cohen, who, on the heels of his edgy Da Ali G Show, has become even more of a pop-culture phenomenon with

The Simpsons: The Complete Eighth Season (Fox, $50) or The Simpsons: The Complete Ninth Season (Dec. 19, $50), because it’s the granddaddy of the adult-themed animation craze.

Reds 25th Anniversary Edition (Paramount, $20), because it earned Oscar nominations for all four acting awards (in total it won three: best director, Warren Beatty; supporting actress, Maureen Stapleton; and cinematography).
